Orange Shirt Day began in 2013 when Phyllis Webstad shared her experience with having her brand new orange shirt taken away on her first day at a residential school.
Today, September 30 has become a time to acknowledge the tragic legacy of residential schools, honour the students, survivors and their families, and also an opportunity for all Canadians to join in the spirit of reconciliation.
Join us in wearing an orange shirt to mark this day and show your commitment to reconciliation.
