The #Maskwacis RCMP continue to receive a number of complaints about drivers not obeying school bus lights. We would like to remind drivers again about what school bus lights mean and the laws in place to keep our children safe.
🟡 Amber lights mean the bus is slowing and preparing to stop. Be alert for the lights to turn red, give the school bus space and treat the area with extra care – children might be present waiting for their bus.
🔴 Red lights (and a stop arm, if equipped) mean the bus is stopped and children are getting on or off. Do not proceed until the red lights have stopped flashing and the stop arm is retracted. It is illegal to pass by a bus with its red lights flashing.
Keeping our children safe is a shared responsibility. Please treat our bus transfer areas, our school zones and pick up/drop off locations with care.
