The INSPOL Thunderbirds were Canada’s first all-star Aboriginal junior hockey team and was the creation of the Indian Sports Olympics Association (INSPOL).
A banquet will be held at the River Cree Resort Ballroom at 5:30 p.m. on May 18. Evening events will consist of a memorial and plaque presentation, as well as recognition plaques to 46 alumni of INSPOL. Our evening entertainment will be Don Burnstick and dance to follow with DJ Mak.
Ermineskin has as alumni Rick Lightning (goal tender) and Dr. Wilton Littlechild (coach). Another INSPOL Thunderbird representative of Ermineskin was the late Leonard Coyote.
We have been notified that the first Indigenous player in the National Hockey League, Fred Sasakamoose may be in attendance. How exciting for the youth and us all!!
