The 3rd Annual Tipi Village at the Ponoka Stampede is now open!
This four day event is a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in Indigenous culture. They will be open from Tuesday, June 25 – Friday, June 28th from noon – 8 p.m. daily (weather permitting).
Every day there will be Grand Entry with spectacular Regalia, greetings and speeches from elders and many First Nations, Indigenous storytelling, a powwow showcase featuring wonderful dancers/drummers and Indigenous vendors selling some beautiful pieces.
Warm thanks to Suzanne Notokwaw Isinwachi Life-Yeomans, and the members of Louis Bull Tribe, Ermineskin Cree Nation, Samson Cree Nation and Montana First Nation for your participation again this year. It is such a wonderful addition to the Ponoka Stampede and I sincerely appreciate your willingness to share your time and your culture with us.
Thanks also to the Town of Ponoka and Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson for your continued support of this event – the spirit of reconciliation is alive and well in Ponoka!
It was such a pleasure to catch up with my friend Chevi Rabbitt, who grew up in Ponoka and was a speaker at today’s event. It’s always fascinating following Chevi’s journey! Great job, my friend!
