Released 42 years ago yesterday. One of my all time favorite running movies.
“Running Brave,” released on November 4, 1983, tells the inspiring story of Billy Mills, a member of the Oglala Sioux tribe from South Dakota. Born on the reservation, Mills attended the University of Kansas, where he was recruited by the Olympic running team. He achieved a remarkable upset by winning the gold medal in the 10,000 meter race at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, becoming the only American to ever win this event. Robby Benson stars as Mills, alongside Pat Hingle and a young Graham Greene.
