🚗☀️ May long weekend is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, and Alberta RCMP is reminding drivers to make safety part of the plan.
As Albertans hit the road for camping trips, lake days, and weekend getaways, we will be increasing traffic enforcement during Canada Road Safety Week and throughout the Victoria Day long weekend.
Plus, May 16 is National Impaired Driving Prevention Enforcement Day!
Before heading out, remember to:
✔️ Never drive impaired by alcohol or drugs
✔️ Avoid distracted driving — put the phone away
✔️ Ensure everyone is properly buckled up
✔️ Follow speed limits and drive responsibly
✔️ Don’t drive fatigued
“While education is a key part of Canada Road Safety Week, it goes hand in hand with increased enforcement over the long weekend,” says Sgt. Turnbull, Alberta RCMP Traffic. “We want to ensure motorists are practicing safe, impairment-free driving to make our roads safer for everyone.”
Whether you’re travelling across the province or staying close to home, make every trip a safe one this May long weekend.
