Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission (MESC) envisions a future of Maskwacîs Awâsisak who are confident and resilient, who speak Nehiyawewin, are academically successful, and live a healthy lifestyle. The establishment of MESC gives Maskwacîsak the ability to enact the Treaty right to education through local control and improved educational opportunities and outcomes for Awâsisak and Oskâyak.
To demonstrate control of Maskwacîs education, MESC has begun the development of a local curriculum. Your feedback of the draft Nehiyawewin, Wâhkôhtowin and Nehiyawatisiwin curriculum is important to the ensuring Awâsisak will have a strong foundation and enduring knowledge and skills to apply to the Nehiyaw teaching to their chosen pathway and the lifelong journey of Kahkiyaw Kîkwây Kânehiyawemakahk.
