Is This Role for You?
Reporting to the Director, Government and Corporate Relations, the Government Relations & ESG Research student will support cross-functional business units by researching community groups in the region, focusing on ethnic and multicultural groups, and recommending associations that YEG should pursue a relationship with. This role will also assist with creating a database of local and national BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) businesses and associations, to support YEGs’ responsible procurement commitments.
Day in The Life
You might be wondering what you can expect on a typical day at work. Every day will bring new opportunities, focusing on key responsibilities, including:
• Researching community groups in the region, focusing on ethnic and multicultural groups and recommending associations we should pursue a relationship with
• Supporting our DEI roadmap by researching protocol and cultural occasions we may want to acknowledge and celebrate internally and externally at YEG
• Support Government & Corporate Relations events, including invites, communications, set up and coordination
• Support internal and external communications relating to Government & Corporate Relations
• Support the advancement of YEGs Social Impact Roadmap and Indigenous Partnership Development, including taks related to the administration of YEGs Elders and Knowledge Keepers Circle, Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business Progressive Aboriginal Relations Certification and cultural events
Special Requirements
You Have:
• Some post-secondary complete, with a resume demonstrating early leadership and community engagement potential
• Successful candidate must be a student currently enrolled in a post-secondary program or registered to attend one in the fall. Transcript or proof of enrollment must be provided with the submission of the application.
• Preference will be given to candidates in a related field such as: Business, Marketing, Communications, Tourism
• Valid Alberta Driver’s License with a clean driving record and ability to use a personal vehicle.
• Ability to work well as a team member and independent with minimal supervision
• Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and is outgoing and sociable
• Ability to take initiative and work productively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Creative thinker, enthusiastic and positive energy
• Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and an acceptable criminal record check
• This position is designated for a candidate with the required qualifications, with preference given to an applicant who identifies as First Nation, Inuit and/or Métis
