“Jasper has suffered a great loss, and is grieving. And Jasper is resilient.
Parks Canada, the Municipality of Jasper, and our partners from Alberta and across Canada are continuing to respond to this devastating emergency. Updates are posted daily on the Jasper National Park Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/JasperNP
The Jasper Indigenous Exhibit stands strong at the heart of the town of Jasper. We will continue our important work together when it’s safe to do so.
The Caribou Conservation Breeding Facility was assessed by the air and there is minor damage. When time permits, there will a thorough assessment from the ground.
Our treasured Palisades Stewardship Education Centre, where our relationships have deep roots, has significant damage. We will provide a more detailed update once the information is available. The attached image leaves us with an immense sense of hope.
The Cultural Use Area has not been assessed, however the wildfire passed through the area, it was incredibly intense and remains active.
You have all been integral parts of the history of Land we call Jasper National Park. Please be assured you each one of you will be invited to share in shaping Jasper’s future.
Thank you”
