I had the honor to design a helmet for MN Wild Goalie, Marc Andre Fleury a.k.a “the Flower” for native american heritage night on friday at the Wild game.
Coincidentally i did not plan for the designs to be a play on his nickname. 😄
I knew immediately that i had to do Dakota florals, to express our Dakota aesthetics for heritage night. And it was VERY important to me that our dakodiapi be on display as well. “Mni Sota Makoce” this is the first name of this territory and it is in the first language of this exact area that the MN Wild play on.
I was very humbled to represent my community and my family this way. This helmet along with the warm up jerseys that will be worn by the Wild, will be up for auction after this weekend, all proceeds will go towards a Native American led charity that assists with indigenous families in the metro area.
