ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Housing Case Manager finds housing for Red Deer’s chronically homeless. After the participant is housed, the Case Manager provides intensive Case Management to ensure that the participant has all the needed resources and support to maintain housing.
Assist participant in gaining access to needed supports (psychiatric, cultural, medical, social, residential, financial and other services appropriate for the participant.)
You will work in partnership with another Housing Case Manager. Your combined caseload will be up to 16 participants.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of community resources necessary to support housing stability and long-term housing retention.
Knowledge of Red Deer services and external resources.
Knowledge of Case Management principles and tools, knowledge of housing first practices.
Experience working with homeless and at risk First Nation, Inuit, or Metis population.
Knowledge of social, economic and health issues relevant to the Urban Aboriginal Community.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal participants, including a sound knowledge and understanding of the issues that impact on culture in contemporary society.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
Proficient oral and written communications and computer skills.
Excellent time management skills: ability to multitask and prioritize.
TRAINING
CPR-First Aid, Suicide prevention, Mental Health First Aid, Housing First 101, Universal Precautions and other training required – we will provide training.
