The City of Wetaskiwin will be closing its facilities—excluding The Manluk Centre—on Thursday, September 30
in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a new federal statutory holiday. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was created in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC’s) Call to Action #80 which recommended a statutory holiday to “honour Survivors, their families, and communities, and ensure that public commemoration of the history and legacy of
residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process.”
