Tomorrow is June 6th – Blue Jean Jacket Day , a day to honour and acknowledge Murdered and Missing Indigenous Men and Boys. Blue Jean Jacket Day was started in Edmonton in 2023 to raise awareness and to bring more attention to the issue of systemic violence faced by Indigenous men and boys.
In our worldview, every life is a sacred thread in the great tapestry of creation. When one is taken, it’s a rip in our families, our communities, our very spirits. Our men and boys are protectors, providers, knowledge-keepers and the carriers of our future. They deserve to walk our lands safely, without fear.
Today we remember their names and demand justice. Let your blue jean jacket be a visible vow—to bring them home, to find answers and to heal these deep wounds.
