National Day of Truth and Reconciliation (Orange Shirt Day) 🧡 Today, September 30, we wear orange to honor the children who were taken to Residential Schools, to remember those who never made it home, and to stand with Survivors, families, and communities still carrying this truth.
As Nehiyawak, we affirm that kakîyâw awâsak kîhceyihtakosowak — All Children Matter. This teaching lives within the Maskwacîs Curriculum, which emphasizes respect for Îyinîw Mâmitonehicikan (the Indigenous mind), Nehiyaw Pimâtisiwin (Cree way of life), Nehiyawewin (Cree language), and Wâhkôhtowin (kinship and relationships).
The legacy of Residential Schools reminds us why these teachings must guide how we love, protect, and uplift our awâsisak (children). On this day, and every day, we walk together in truth, healing, and reconciliation.
