Measles Awareness and Prevention: Tansi Ohpikinahawasiwak (Parents/Caregivers), At Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission (MESC), we prioritize the health and well-being of our students, staff, families, and Maskwacîsak. Currently, there are no confirmed cases in Maskwacîs schools. However, with increased cases in Alberta, we want to ensure everyone is informed and taking steps to protect themselves and their families.
Measles spreads easily through the air and symptoms can include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a red blotchy rash. It can be serious—especially for young children, pregnant individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.
How You Can Protect Your Child:
-Please make sure your child is up to date on immunizations: Two doses are needed for full protection.
-Call Maskwacîs Health Services at 780-585-2266 to book an appointment.
You can also:
-Call Health Link (811)
-Check My Health Record (ages 14+)
-Email schools@mymhs.ca, text 780-362-2139, or pick up a consent form beside Roots & Berries Pharmacy
As community events and travel continue this fall, remember to:
✔️ Check vaccination status
🧼 Wash hands & cover coughs
🏠 Stay home if sick and call 811 before visiting a clinic
Thank you for your continued support and by working together we will keep our children safe. Ay hay nanâskomowin
