It was a special privilege for my wife Rose and I to attend the 80th birthday celebration for Dr. Wilton (Willie) Littlechild at the always fabulous River Cree Resort & Casino last night.
It was a testament to
his incredible life of service that we were joined by Alberta’s 19th Lieutenant Governor, the honourable Salma Lakhani and so many Chiefs, Council members, business leaders, family and friends.His story is a remarkable one of resilience, determination, strength and triumph over much adversity. Dr. Littlechild is a residential school survivor, former Grand Chief, lawyer, former Member of Parliament, amazing athlete, mentor (to me and so many others!) and lifelong advocate for Indigenous rights.
