Alex Janvier was one of the greatest artists to ever rise from these lands, helping us all to understand our environment and all our relations – human and beyond – through his Cree understanding of life and place. In 2017, Alex Janvier contributed to the creation of the Canadian Geographic Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada. He also presented a powerful exhibition entitled “13 Moons” at our headquarters at 50 Sussex Drive in Ottawa. We will miss Alex Janvier but know his legacy will live on through his art and the many relationships that he leaves behind.
