
A historic moment in Maskwacis :
First Senior Women’s Hockey Tournament in Maskwacis, hosted by the Maskwacis team Treaty 6 Reign.
Opening ceremonies began with a warm welcome from Gale Raine. An opening prayer and song were beautifully shared by Holly Rattlesnake, followed by a powerful Drum Honor Song, by James Larocque.
Chief Joel Mykat and Chief Wilton Littlechild delivered opening remarks, recognizing and honoring the significance of this historic tournament and the strength of women in sport and community.
The puck drop was delivered by Veteran, and former elite hockey player Henry Raine.
An inspiring start to an incredible weekend of hockey, culture, and celebration for women’s hockey.
Come out and enjoy a game they will be games playing at both arenas over the weekend.
