ERMINESKIN CREE NATION CITIZEN UPDATE FOR: JULY 13, 2020

As of today July 13, 2020 there are no confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ermineskin or the other nations in Maskwacis.

Samson Cree Nation has released details of Samson member that visited Samson and Pigeon Lake who tested positive for Covid-19, the Samson member does not reside or work in Maskwacis, and is currently in self isolation in Calgary. Alberta Health Services have contacted those who had been in close contact with the positive case, and they are being tested and in self isolation.

As a precautionary measure Ermineskin Cree Nation chief and council with the recommendations by the Ermineskin Emergency Operations Committee will be making the following changes:
• Security Checkpoints will be in operation 24 hrs Daily. Effective July 14, 2020
• Curfew will be reinstated to 10 pm to 6 am. Effective July 14th, 2020
• All non-essential services of ECN Administration will be closed for a 2 week period. Effective July 14, 2020
• Essential Services will continue to operate for Emergency Services Only at this time; buildings will be closed to the public. Contact for services via phone and email. (Ermineskin Property Management, Public Works, Security, Fire Department, Tech Services, NHS, Finance, Communications, and Administrator)

These steps are being taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our nation citizens.

We encourage everyone to take the necessary precautions to keep one another safe, to prevent the potential of contracting and transmitting the virus. Citizens are asked to continue to take precautions like wearing a mask in public places, washing and sanitizing their hands and practicing physical distancing. We would also like to encourage those to get tested whether or not you have symptoms.

We will keep continue to keep the public notified of any further announcements.

About Ermineskin Cree Nation

The Ermineskin Cree Nation (Reserve #138) is one member of the Four Nations of Maskwacis, Alberta – located in Central Alberta about fifty miles south of Edmonton on Highway 2A, halfway between the towns of Ponoka and Wetaskiwin. The Ermineskin Cree Nations land base is approximately 25’000 acres. This area is traditionally known as the Bear Hills or Maskwacheesihk.
