Today, the Supply Chain Education students had the honour of hosting guest speaker, MP Billy Morin, who spoke on Business Entrepreneurship and Supply Chain Management, and guest MLA Rick Wilson.
Mr. Morin explains the Supply Chain System and its importance in identifying opportunities for First Nations communities across Alberta. A supply chain includes every step involved in moving a product or service, from sourcing materials to production, transportation, storage, and final delivery. As Alberta’s industries continue to grow, these systems depend on strong partnerships, skilled labour, and local expertise.
For First Nation communities, this creates opportunities in areas such as:
– Procurement and contracting
– Transportation and logistics
– Warehousing and distribution
– Technology and data management
– Energy, construction, and environmental services
By participating directly in supply chain roles or developing Indigenous-owned businesses, First Nation communities can expand economic independence, support workforce development, and strengthen local infrastructure. Education, collaboration, and long-term partnership are key to building inclusive and resilient supply chains across Alberta.
Thank you, Billy and Rick, for spending time with our students today! Building relationships is the foundation of a successful business!
